This image reuses the spaceship model from the Battlecruiser image. It began as a test image to see how well the model would render from other angles and other lighting conditions. Because I liked the look of the ship against the sky, I started to build a scene around it.
The scene is entirely modeled and rendered in Carrara, using custom shaders. The starship and the shipyard around it are constructed from spline objects and primitives, and the sky uses the Carrara 'realistic sky' editor. Only sunlight is used to light the scene.
A single figure, Daz's Victoria 4, has been added to the scene, mostly to show scale.
