This was part of the same series of experiments that produced the image The Broken City. The lighting and atmosphere in this one are a little less ominous, however.
The original image had a hazy orange-red sky. I post-edited the final render in Photoshop, replacing the sky with a bluish gradient fill that contrasts with the orange of the landscape.
