Yellow Lake city

Comments

This was an experimental scene based on a terrain model purchased from ArtStation. I hadn’t quite realized when I bought it that the model wasn’t a heightmap, as I had assumed, but a gigantic Wavefront OBJ file. It’s just under 2GB in total, and I was a little surprised that Vue was even able to import it. In fact, Vue did a pretty good job, although it became a bit sluggish and flashed up memory warnings (on a machine with 32GB of RAM) from time to time.

The buildings are also from ArtStation, retextured using simple Vue materials. They hold up fairly well in the background, but could perhaps benefit from more sophisticated texturing -- or postwork -- in the foreground.
