The 'space station' (if that's what it is) is assembled from various models, mostly in the Greeble City Blocks set. The blocks, the spaceship, and the element from the Modular Sci-Fi Kit that provides the frame, have all been retextured using shaders from Mec 4D's Iray shader sets.
Lighting is mostly from the sunset sky HDRI, although I added a point-light to bring out a little more detail on the figure's face.
The image mostly works because of the gaze of the foreground figure. Using the subject's eyes to direct the viewer's attention is a trick often used by photographers, and it seems to work here.
