Kirsch Ship

This image was commissioned by Paul Kirsch for his book This Way to the Stars, about the possibility of faster-than-light travel. The brief called for an image of a spaceship being boarded by its crew, and included a detailed description of the ship. In particular, the tri-colored lens at the front of the ship represents a feature of the ships described in the book.

The image was completely modeled in Carrara, using a mixture of simple primitives and spline objects. The ship itself was built as a spline object and then modified using the 3D boolean tool. The human figures in the scene are imported models using Daz3D's Michael and Victoria figures.

The same ship model is also used in the second image created for the book.
